Hello readers.

It's officially time for my first blog about my journey as a reader.

When I was young, I was completely obsessed with Daisy Meadow's Rainbow Magic books. To the right is a picture of the books I have not lost over the years, but believe me, every time I went to WHSmith, I would pester and nag my mum to buy me one. To this day she still recalls every single one she bought me, and she never lets me forget how I carelessly lost so many.

These were the only books I would ever read as a child. The idea of two best friends continuously working together to help hundreds of fairies from the illusive Jack Frost's constant schemes to sabotage the fairies work, really appealed to me. Each story was so different yet so similar. Each fairy and each group of sisters brought a new exciting story for me to lose myself in.

From the Rainbow Fairies, to the Weather fairies, to the Twilight Fairies, to the Holiday fairies, I was always so excited to read Kirsty and Rachel's next adventure. The Holiday Fairies were particularly so exciting for me because they were the amazing 'three-in-one' stories, so I'd be extra delighted to be holding one at the checkout. My entire family knew how much I loved these books. So much so that getting me gifts for my birthday was so easy.

Recently, I discovered that there was an Eid fairy. Of course I have outgrown these books, but I HAD to purchase one. All I wished when I was younger was that there was a fairy that looked like me. Younger me would have cried in happiness if this had been released back then. My outfit for World Book day at school would have been so much easier. Needless to say, I adore the representation. Elisha the Eid Fairy belongs to a group of fairies called the Festival Fairies, which include Bea the Buddha Day Fairy and Deena the Diwali Fairy. I just know these specific books will touch the hearts of those children like me, who yearned to see a fairy like them, in a story that relates to them.

Well done, Daisy Meadows. We LOVE to see it.

I've kept (or tried to keep) as many of these books as I can, so I can pass them on to any children I may have in the future. Elisha the Eid Fairy will be the one I will be proudest to introduce to them, as I know it will be the one they relate to the most.

Daisy Meadows has published over 200 Rainbow Magic books since 2003, her stories just keep coming and children just can't stop reading. These are the stories which made me adore reading, and I'll never forget them.
